STUDIO ETIQUETTE & HYGIENE
In today’s climate, health and hygiene work together to keep us all stronger and safer within our small community that is part of a larger community! We want to set the following Guidelines in place for everyone’s safety and comfort:
The safety of our community has always been our #1 priority. We are leveling up our safety measures and cleaning procedures even more now to be in accordance with CDC guidelines. Things to Know before you Flow!
New Clients, Please arrive 10 minutes before class to check in. Make sure to have your Covid Vaccination Proof (a photo is acceptable). If you are pre-registered/paid please arrive at least 5 minutes before class.
Please be on your mat at the time class starts. Any student arriving 10 minutes or later from start time will not be allowed in class and will have to forfeit their spot. Please call if there are any issues and we can try to save a spot for you.
The Dept of Health recommends to shower prior to class if possible. There are natural wipes and natural spray deodorant in both bathrooms for your convenience. Please make sure to sanitize and/or wash hands prior to class.
Due to the smaller studio spaces, we request you use Deodorant prior to class.
Please refrain from Perfumes or lotions with perfumes.
Please distance yourself 3-6 feet apart in class. A teacher will be happy to help assist if needed.
Teens/Minors are allowed to take class with the accompaniment of an Adult.
.We have a filter water system - please make sure to stay hydrated in class. Specifically the Barre or HIIT classes.
For HIIT classes, please bring Sneakers with a clean sole (not worn to class). Spraying a sole with disinfecting spray is acceptable.
We ask that all clients update their account with a credit card , when possible to ensure a contactless environment.
Pre-Registration or Client Profile Set up is encouraged prior to arriving to class.
Clients will be admitted into the studio no earlier than 15 minutes before class, and must leave by 15 minutes after class ends.
Please place shoes outside of studios along the wall, or in cubbies. Jackets and coats can be hung in the back of the studio space.
Proof of full vaccination is required for all clients and staff .
Proof of vaccination & Booster can be verified through the Excelsior Pass, Digital Passport, CDC Vaccination Card or photo, or NYC COVID Safe app.
If you tested positive for Covid, regardless of being vaccinated or receiving the booster, we ask that you wait 10 days from first symptom before returning to class. We will be happy to hold any passes or memberships if needed.
Mask Policy:
If you wish to remove your mask, you may take class without a mask on.
During January 2022 - Please try to wear a mask in class when more than 4 students are present.
For the safety of our staff and other students, masks are required in the common areas where social distancing is harder to maintain.
If you know you have been exposed to a positive Covid-19 case, we expect and trust that you will keep your mask on during class per CDC guidelines.
Yoga Mats & Equipment:
As of 2022 - Rentals: yoga mats are $2. Barre Towels are $2. This rental fee is waived if you have an unlimited membership.
Barre Mats will be included as part of the Class. We are trying to maintain the promotional prices for the New Year till Spring of 2022.
Please make sure to wipe down all equipment/mats in both studios. Let a teacher know if you are not able to.
We recommend bringing extra face masks as needed. Disposable masks are available at front desk.
TURN OFF TO TURN IN!
No electronics are allowed in the studio room. Please silence your phones even if in the lobby. If you are a healthcare worker and on-call, please let the Instructor know prior to class, and keep phone on silence/vibration.
If you have a smart watch, please make sure the display is turned off during class to not disturb other clients.
HEALTH, SAFETY AND OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
The following plan has been established to allow students and staff to operate in the studio safely. These policies and protocols are based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control, NY State Department of Health and NYC Key to NYC mandates. The health and safety of our students and employees is most important to Island OM. We are fully committed to continually updating and revising this plan as new information about the virus becomes available.
COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
The Health of our Family at Island OM and the Roosevelt Island Community is a responsibility we all share. Our ability to conduct in-person classes rests on our collective commitment to be diligent regarding all new policies and procedures as well as personal health and hygiene.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements:
Students & Staff 12+:
• According to Key to NYC mandates, proof of full vaccination (2 vaccine doses/ or 1 dose of J&J) must be submitted (meaning two weeks after second dose).
You must Provide proof of being fully vaccinated by submitting the Proof of Vaccination either by photo or Excelsior pass. Your proof of vaccination will be noted on your account, and you will not need to present it each time you come to Island OM.
Parents and Caregivers attending class with a student: You must show either your Excelsior Pass or vaccine card to the Front Desk Staff when you attend your first class at Island OM.
• Guests who rent the space are also requested to provide proof.
As of December 15th, 2021 - COVID-19 vaccination proof requirements are expanding to include younger children and to require full vaccination:
• Children ages 5-11 are now required to have proof of vaccination for the public indoor activities including Fitness Studios and Recreation centers. They must show they have received at least 1 dose of the vaccine. Starting January 29, 2022 - Children ages 5-11 must also provide proof of full vaccination in order to attend indoor activities.
We encourage everyone eligible to receive their booster. Please take advantage of this extra protection.
Please Stay Home if Sick or Exposed.
• Students, parents, caregivers, and staff should stay home if they have any of the following symptoms: Fever, cough, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, extreme fatigue, body aches, shortness of breath, rash or lost sense of taste or smell. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, consult your medical professional immediately. If a student, parent, or anyone in your home has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or has been notified by the NY Department of Health that they were in contact with an individual infected with COVID-19, you must notify Island OM immediately.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Face Masks Must be worn by all students, parents, caregivers, and staff at all times, when entering our spaces, in the bathrooms and lobby. Students are expected to supply their own masks. In case of an urgent need, masks are available with the front desk.
Hand Hygiene - Hand sanitizing or washing is requested before and after class.
Cleaning, Disinfection, Ventilation, and Capacity - Enhanced cleaning protocols have been implemented. Each studio has been equipped with a Medify MA- air purifier. Occupancy capacity meets federal, state and local guidelines.
We personally recommend wearing masks in class if a new variant or surge occurs, or you feel you may have been exposed.
COVID-19 PROCEDURES –
We will closely monitor the latest developments regarding COVID-19 to ensure that we are continuing to follow appropriate recommendations from health authorities to maintain a safe environment.
Entering Island OM Following Illness and Quarantine
• Following COVID-19 illness, students & staff must meet the CDC quarantine criteria before returning to Island OM. This includes, no symptoms and ten days elapsed since symptoms first appeared. A negative COVID-19 test result does not reduce the 10-day isolation period.

• Following non-COVID illness, students must have no symptoms and be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
COVID-19 Exposure
If any member of our community comes into contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, they must follow the most current CDC instructions for quarantine as listed here:

• Vaccinated students and students who tested positive for COVID-19 with a viral test within the previous 90 days and has subsequently recovered and remains without COVID-19 symptoms do not need to quarantine after exposure.

Fully Vaccinated People Traveling Domestically or Internationally:
Domestic Travel:
• You do not need to get tested or self-quarantine if you are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months.
• Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms. You should still follow all other travel recommendations.
International Travel:
• Get tested within 1-3 days of departure.
• Wear a mask throughout your travels.
• Test 3-5 days after arrival back to US.
• Once you have a negative test result, you may enter Island OM.
COVID-19 Reporting and Privacy
• If you have been to Island OM and have then tested positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of your last visit, please notify the Studio immediately by emailing info@islandomnyc.com. Please include the date of the positive test and the onset of symptoms (if applicable).
• Island OM will immediately notify any students and staff who came into contact with the infected person.
• The sick person’s identity will be kept confidential.
COMPLIANCE WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Island OM is responsible for ensuring that all occupants of our space have been provided with clear and thorough instructions regarding health and safety practices. Please be informed that any person who fails to comply with the health and safety protocols set by Island OM will be asked to leave and any pass or membership will be put on hold.
